In the fall of 2020, Hand in Hand members and Domestic Worker organizations joined a campaign to support the Domestic Workers Standards Boards request for a $150,000 increased budget to implement the Domestic Worker Ordinance. Hand in Hand employers lobbied Seattle City Council members, and gave in-person and written testimony at budget hearings. Through these efforts the Board was able to secure a $50,000 budget increase during an austerity budget, with a promise of a larger increase in the Spring’s supplemental budget hearing. The supplemental hearings will align with the timing of the Domestic Worker Standards Boards’ policy, outreach and implementation recommendations for Seattle City Council.
