This checklist can help you be a more fair employer in your home
The following questions are designed to help you create a work relationship that is mutually beneficial and supportive—whether you've employed someone for years or are considering hiring.
Being a fair employer has three main components:
1. Establishing Clear Communication in the form of written work agreements and regular check ins.
2. Providing Fair Pay and a living wage. A living wage is considered to be the rate a worker requires to cover the costs of their family's basic needs based on where they live.
3. Providing Paid Time Off.
The questions below are designed to help you develop these practices, and see how you are currently doing.
These questions reflect some of the best practices recommended by Hand in Hand with direct input from domestic workers; this does not constitute legal advice.
