How to Support Immigrant Domestic Workers (En Español Abajo)

Immigrants are under attack. Many of us who do domestic work are immigrants. Regardless of immigration status, many of us are afraid to go to work, go to the store, or take our kids to school. As my employer, your support means a lot.

Build Trust

Open the conversation: Invite me to talk about my worries and how we can work together to protect my safety.
Please respect my privacy and do not inquire about my immigration status.
Be a fair employer. Provide overtime pay, paid sick leave, and uphold worker’s rights in your home.

Create a Plan

Create a safe transportation plan with me. This could include accompanying me to the bus stop, offering rides, covering taxi costs, etc.
Update all emergency contact lists.
Learn about immigrant rights.
Do not answer the door for ICE. ICE cannot enter your home without a valid judicial warrant.

Cree un Plan
