It's #CaregiverAppreciationDay! Today, we celebrate the dedication, compassion, and vital role care and domestic workers play in our lives. They sustain our careers, help our families thrive, and make all other work possible.

This year, appreciation isn't enough. Cuts to Medicaid threaten the programs that pay for home care and support services—directly harming care workers and the people who depend on them.

We know that care is the foundation of our lives. That is why today, and every day, we do all that we can to uplift and center care in our communities—and demand that our leaders protect it. Protect care. #ProtectMedicaid. 💜

This past Saturday we hosted a Sanctuary Homes outreach day in San Francisco’s Diamond Heights neighborhood in response to the ICE abduction of a 66-year-old nanny on her way to work in the neighborhood on February 13.

We came together and spoke to approximately 100 neighbors to show that while our communities face injustice, there is also deep community care, action, and change happening every day.

When a caregiver is detained on her way to work, entire families and communities are shaken. Domestic workers make all other work possible. Employers have a role to play in ensuring their homes are safe and fair workplaces — especially during escalating immigration enforcement.

Fear should not follow caregivers to work. Let’s get prepared and protect our community. Find resources via link in comments 👇

Share widely AND, keep on following us and our partners at CA Domestic Workers Coalition to support the movement.✊
