Last week we joined our CA Domestic Workers Coalition partners at a hearing to fight cuts to crucial grant funding from the city of San Francisco, which has made possible vital education for domestic workers and their employers about their rights and responsibilities.

As our CA Director, Lindsay Imai Hong testified, becoming a domestic employer “doesn’t come with orientation or an HR manual. People are figuring out terms of employment by themselves, on their own, and that can result in some generous practices — it also can result in some of the ugliest forms of labor abuses.”

So many employers want to do the right thing but need the guidance. We need to keep this work fully funded to educate employers and continue to make homes fair workplaces, and ensure domestic workers’ rights are protected!

For millions of disabled people, Medicaid enables them to live a fully independent life — with dignity and in their communities. It enables them not just to live, but to thrive.

Meanwhile, the federal government is making devastating cuts to the very care they need and instead asking for $200B to fund war. They have the money to terrorize families, but lack the will to fund what keeps people alive.

Defund War. Defund ICE. Fund Care. 🗣️

We will not stay silent.
