“We’re in a really hard time in history and senior people — seniors and disabled people, people of color, LGBTQ people, immigrants, migrants, refugees, we’re in a time where the majority of the communities in the United States are really under attack and we need to work together. We need to learn together. We need to really listen to each other and create sanctuary homes and sanctuary communities... We want to have work that strengthens us all and keeps us all safe.”

California Hand in Hand member Maya Morya Selkie Scott joined us this past Saturday at the Mountain View Art and Wine Festival to talk to attendees about being a domestic employer, who Hand in Hand is, what our work is — fighting for domestic workers and care work, protecting our immigrant domestic workers and communities, and ultimately, making care accessible for all — and why they’re in this fight with us.

Last week, TPS for almost 200,000 Salvadorans expired, leaving them in limbo. Until a decision is made, their future remains uncertain. This comes after the termination of TPS for hundreds of thousands of Haitian, Syrian, and Yemeni immigrants. The end of TPS for anyone is inhumane, and we refuse to look away. Home isn't temporary. People deserve a permanent pathway to citizenship, not another expiration date.
