Hand in Hand condemns the recent ICE raids across the country and the alarming decision by the administration to call in the National Guard and Marines to Los Angeles. This level of militarization against immigrant communities, and against those showing up to defend them, is unconscionable. It terrorizes families, destabilizes neighborhoods, and promises to have devastating impacts on the economy.

More than a third of domestic workers in the United States are immigrants— providing essential care and support in our homes and communities. They deserve safety, dignity, and the right to live and work without fear. We understand that without immigrants, our already broken care system would collapse.

We reject the deportation agenda of the current administration, and remain committed in our resolve to make domestic worker rights real, and to educate employers on how they can make their homes fair and safe workplaces. Earlier this year, Hand in Hand released a guide, How Employers Can Support Immigrant Domestic Workers. If you haven’t already, we invite you to download it and share with your community.

We know that many employers of domestic workers in our network have already put many of these recommendations to good use and are already taking action. We invite you to share with us how you are showing up to defend immigrant domestic workers and their communities.
