Throwing it back to June and the No Cuts to Care Bus Tour with our partners at California Pan-Ethnic Health Network (CPEHN), where we showed up to fight to protect #Health4All!

Hand in Hand member Brenda Gutierrez showed up with us to have her voice heard. Brenda was recently featured in our California Quarterly Newsletter for our member spotlight. Joining Hand in Hand was the first time she became an advocate. She joined us because she realized something powerful: “No one can tell my story better than I can.”

Telling her own story was also about making sure people with disabilities are part of the decisions that shape their lives: “One of the greatest gifts this experience gave me was realizing that I actually belong in those rooms. For so much of my life, decisions have been made about people with disabilities, instead of with us.”

That’s why we launched “Our Stories, Our Care,” a storytelling project to protect Medi-Cal. If you’re a disabled person, older adult, caregiver, or home care worker in California, we invite you to share your story with us!
